The Courier-Journal, Program places 2,000 youths in summer jobs

A group of 2,000 young adults will be at work for the next eight weeks thanks to Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer's SummerWorks program.

Created three years ago by Fischer in response to federal budget cuts to summer work programs, SummerWorks has placed 4,100 16- to 21- year-olds in jobs with organizations and companies like the Boys and Girls Clubs and Thorntons Inc.
