Seventeen-year-old Jasmine Anderson will be frying funnel cakes at Kentucky Kingdom this summer — part of an army of about 1,000 hired to staff the park that opens Saturday — and she's bringing a lot of expectations to the new job.

"This helps me toward my dream, of passing, graduating high school and going to college for nursing," said Jasmine, who was offered the job in March, just as she finished a week of incarceration related to truancy.
