The Sentinel-News, Retooled employment office opens Monday (June 24)

More staff, more space equals more services, officials say

Date Published: 6/21/2013

The glass is not half empty, but half full – that’s the state’s new focus on what traditionally have been called “unemployment offices,” including a new office for Shelby County that will open Monday (June 24).

When the Kentucky Career Center opens its doors at 88 Brunerstown Road, near the Interstate 64 interchange at KY 55, visitors will see familiar faces from the Employment and Training Office. Those five employees from the old office at 31 Mount Rushmore Road closed up shop Wednesday to make the move out to their brand-new building, which they will share with five new employees from KentuckianaWorks.
