The Courier-Journal, Mayor Greg Fischer seeks money for youth summer jobs

With dim prospects for taxpayer funding, Louisville officials are asking local businesses, corporate foundations and individuals to foot the bill for at least 200 teens and young adults to have a job this summer.

In 2010, $2 million in federal stimulus funds put about 700 Louisville youths ages 16 to 21 to work at entry-level jobs such as mowing grass for Metro Parks and helping out at nonprofits.
