Courier-Journal, Louisville employers hiring fewer teens

Louisville summer-job hunters are heading into their third straight season facing about 10 percent unemployment — and experts say prospects are particularly bleak this year.

Though the national economy is showing some signs of improvement, the local job market “is recovering very slowly,” said Michael Gritton, executive director of KentuckianaWorks, which offers career counseling and job information for job seekers. And for teenagers, “it's as bad as it's ever been.”
